Oswego, New York, July 25, 2010An Oswego County-based Disaster Action Team of the American Red Cross of Central New York responded to assist 4 people stranded in Oswego when their vehicles were destroyed by the partial collapse of a former church at the corner of East 4th and Bridge Streets in Oswego on Sunday.  Four Harborfest vendors were stranded in Oswego without transportation when their vehicles were crushed by falling debris.  The Red Cross is providing immediate assistance to the 4. 

The Disaster Action Team (DAT) responds to local residential emergencies and disasters such as fire.  They are a group of volunteers trained in administering to the needs of victims of disasters. Red Cross assistance typically may include temporary emergency shelter, and financial assistance for food and replacement clothing and replacement medication and emotional support. Volunteers are always needed and those interested should contact the Director of Volunteers at (315) 234-2217 at the American Red Cross of Central New York Chapter.
