RED CROSS RESPONDS TO FIRE AT 316 WILKINSON STREET, SYRACUSE, NY
Syracuse, New York, July 30, 2010 – A Disaster Action Team from the American Red Cross of Central New York responded to a residential fire at 316 Wilkinson Street in Syracuse, NY early this morning. Heavy damage to the second floor apartment forced the temporary relocation of one adult. No assistance was needed.
The Disaster Action Team (DAT) responds to local residential emergencies and disasters such as fire. They are a group of volunteers trained in administering to the needs of victims of disasters. Red Cross assistance typically may include temporary emergency shelter, and financial assistance for food and replacement clothing and replacement medication and emotional support. Volunteers are always needed and those interested should contact the Director of Volunteers at (315) 234-2217 at the American Red Cross of Central New York Chapter.
