Background on the Event

For the eighth year, the American Red Cross of Central New York, will be managing a Crucible Industries LLC parking lot during the entire run of the Great New York State Fair. “Park It 8” is run as a fundraiser to support the American Red Cross.

“We are so grateful to the leadership of Crucible and its employees,” said Marci Henderson, Regional CEO. “Funding for the American Red Cross has reached critical levels both nationally and locally. The parking lot will allow us to raise the funds we need in order to support the increased need in the community for our services.”

“We are called upon to help people who have lost everything and assist with finding them temporary shelter, food and clothing. If the situation warrants it, we will also become involved in assisting them with long term shelter needs, via security deposits, furniture and items to help them set-up housekeeping with,” said Henderson.

Fair goers will have the ability to park in the conveniently located parking lot which is located on State Fair Blvd , just east of the main gate, for a parking fee of $10. All proceeds will go to benefit the American Red Cross of Central New York. Each car will receive an American Red Cross brochure packed with information on chapter services, volunteer opportunities and preparedness material.
